The problem

A language gap that perpetuates inequality.

Ghana produces world-class education, health, and environmental programs. But most of them exist only in a language half the country doesn't speak fluently.

80+ languages, one for content

Ghana has over 80 spoken languages — Twi, Ga, Ewe, Fante, Dagbani, Hausa, and many more. But almost every important piece of content — about education, health, civic rights, environmental protection — exists only in English.

Coastal communities left behind

In Greater Accra, Volta, and Central regions, only 30–55% of adults have functional English proficiency. Mothers at town halls, fishers at community meetings, and primary-school children often can't fully absorb the information meant for them.

Real programs, fraction of the reach

Proven Ghanaian programs like Ocean Tribe Foundation's Plastic Bootcamp exist and work — but they reach only a fraction of their potential because the curriculum is locked in English.

The solution

One platform. Every Ghanaian language.

LocalGhana takes English content and turns it into Twi, Ga, Ewe (and beyond) — text, audio, and conversation.

Input
English content
  • • Text — articles, lessons, forms
  • • Video — trainings, talks, ads
  • • Audio — podcasts, radio, voice
Output
Twi • Ga • Ewe
  • • Translated text
  • • Dubbed audio / video
  • • Chatbot on any channel
Translate

English text → Twi, Ga, Ewe with community-validated accuracy.

Dub

Video & audio → AI voice in local languages with locally-validated profiles.

Nua chatbot

Multilingual AI assistant on SMS, WhatsApp, USSD, and web.

Teacher co-pilot

AI assistant for local-language teachers — lesson plans, quizzes, prompts.

Built on: Google Gemini • Chirp 2 • Cloud Translation • Cloud TTS • Masakhane datasets

Anchor use case

Built first with Ocean Tribe Foundation.

Ocean Tribe is our founding partner — and our proof of traction. They run the most exciting coastal-conservation programs in Ghana. We translate and dub them into the languages their communities actually speak.

Founding partner

Ocean Tribe Foundation

Registered in Ghana (July 2025), Ocean Tribe Foundation runs an integrated 2025–2030 Strategic Plan: beach cleanups, trash booms, plastic buy-back centers, environmental education, mangrove restoration, and biodiversity monitoring across Greater Accra, Volta, and Central regions.

Their Plastic Bootcamp is already in 50+ schools. We're translating and dubbing every module into Twi, Ga, and Ewe.

Traction & validation

What we already have.

Most early-stage AI startups have only a slide deck. LocalGhana has real content, real partners, real communities, and a real plan.

  • Founding partner Ocean Tribe Foundation is a registered LBG with active programs across Greater Accra, Volta, and Central regions
  • Letters of support received from KNUST (Twi NLP research), CSIR-IIR, OmniBSIC Bank
  • Plastic Bootcamp curriculum ready for translation — 100% of content already in production
  • Pilot school commitments secured across all 3 target regions
  • Multilingual technical team being assembled with community linguists per language
  • Aligned with Ghana Ministry of Education mother-tongue instruction policy (2019)
  • Open-data contribution to Masakhane African Languages AI Hub
